Uganda electronic Visa is an eVisa launched by the Government of Uganda in 2016 to facilitate the visa application process for foreigners.

The e-Visa system allows residents of certain countries to apply online for a visa to enter Uganda without having to visit the Uganda Embassy or other diplomatic missions in person.

The Uganda e-Visa permits the owners to stay in the country for 30 days and is divided into three types: one-time entry visa, multi-entry visa (which also permits entry into Kenya and Rwanda), and transit visa. A transit visa is the only exemption and permits a 7 days visit,

You have to follow a 3 step process and it will take few minutes to get it completed and have an approved visa in your email.

All travelers with a valid passport and meet all requirements can enter Uganda on three types of eVisas. Check out the available options (details below) and choose the one that best suits your needs.

Below are the types of Uganda online visas that can be used for sightseeing, trade and transit purposes.

  • Single Entry electronic Visa: Allows you to stay in Uganda for 30 days (3 months) and enter once for business, tourism or medical reasons.
  • East African Visa Online: Multiple Entry Permit is valid for 90 days from date of arrival in Uganda. With this type of visa you will be able to stay in Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya!
  • Electronic Transit Visa: Designed for travelers who need to travel to another country via Uganda. This type of online visa can only be used for transit purposes and allows you to stay in Uganda for 7 days.

How do I apply online? Fortunately, it doesn’t get any easier than this. Simply use the panel on the left side of this website to select the type of e-Visa you wish to apply for and click the Apply Online button to begin the actual application process.

Residents of each country have:

 

  • Enter all the required details and travel information in the online application. Use the Passport Information to deliver the required details. Include supporting documentation to ensure your application is error-free.
  • Pay the electronic visa processing fee (USD 99 or USD 150). Candidates can use paypal, payU, credit card/ debit card or any other method for payment.
  • Your e-Visa in PDF format will be sent to your email address within 72 hours (3 business days). Once your entry visa has been approved, you will need to print it out and bring it with you to the airport.

Single (Uganda only) and Multiple (East Africa) Permits are valid for 90 days (3 months) from the date of entry into Uganda.

An online transit visa is valid for 7 days and permits the owner to visit Uganda for transit purposes only. Valid from date of arrival.

The minimum requirement for all travelers is a passport valid for at least 6 months. Your passport must be valid for 180 days after your date of arrival in Uganda.

To exit the airport transit area, you must first apply for a transit visa online. This type of e-Visa permits the holder to stay in Uganda for 7 days.

Additional mandatory supporting documents are required to view the electronic transit visa application and submit the online application at least 3 business days prior to travel.

 Electronic visa fee is USD 99 and 150 USD if you apply for East African Travel Autgorization.

Required Documents for Uganda e-Visa

An online visa to enter Uganda must be obtained in transit. Before you start applying for an e-Visa, please prepare the specified documents.

Each type of e-Visa to Uganda has unique requirements for travelers. Select the required type from the 3 types available and start collecting the main file.

Single-entry e-Visa to Uganda

Applicants applying online for a Uganda Single Entry Permit must bring the following:

  • A photo of your valid passport profile page.
  • Applicant photo (one that can be easily taken with a mobile phone or computer camera)
  • A photo of your yellow fever vaccination certificate.

Transit e-Visa

To travel to another country via Uganda and apply for a transit visa online, each traveler must attach the following documents to their application:

  • A photo of the biometric page of the applicant’s passport
  • Photograph of the applicant (digital, taken with a mobile phone or computer camera)
  • Evidence of vaccination against yellow fever
  • A photo of the flight ticket booked for the continuation of the trip.

East Africa Online Visa

To apply for an East African visa online, be prepared with the following:

  • A photo of your valid passport profile page.
  • Photo of the applicant (can be taken with a mobile phone or camera)
  • Evidence of vaccination against yellow fever
  • Return ticket photo

Your passport must not expire for at least 6 months from the planed date of travel.

Important Information

  • All applicants must meet the above requirements to ensure eVisa approval.
  • Please book your trip to Uganda at least 3 business days in advance.
  • Travelers with an approved Uganda e-Visa must print it out and present it at customs at the airport.
  • Online visas can be extended through the official Ugandan government website.
  • The Uganda e-Visa not serves as a work permit.
  • The e-Visa is valid from the expected date of arrival in Uganda (not from the date of issue).

Uganda e-Visa FAQs

The Uganda e-Visa is an online entry permit that permits the holder to enter Uganda. Nationals of eligible countries can complete their online visa application within minutes from home provided they have a valid passport, certificate of yellow fever, and other requirements.

The basic documents for all types of e-Visas are a passport, a photograph of the applicant and proof of yellow fever.
