Kenya e-Visa: Basic Information

Kenya eVisa is an online visa launched by the Government of Kenya in 2005 that allows visitors from eligible countries to visit Kenya for tourism, business and transportation purposes.

There are three types of electronic visas in Kenya: tourist visas, business visas, and transit visas. Tourist visas and business visas are valid for 90 days from the date of issue, while transit visas are valid for 72 hours.

Peoples of eligible countries can apply for a Kenya e-Visa online by completing the application form. Approved documents will be sent to the applicant’s email.

The Kenyan government has introduced an e-visa to make it easier for travelers to process the required documents.

Kenyan e-visas are single entry visas valid for 3 months from the date of issue (the same length of stay is allowed). The cost is 99 USD and the East African visa is 149 USD.

Travelers must register at least 3 business days in advance

Important Update!

Due to the current Covid-19 epidemic, all visitors entering Kenya must complete the Kenya Health Surveillance Form and prepare for inspection upon arrival.

This form asks travelers to provide travel, health and contact details. These are important for Kenyan authorities to respond to a pandemic.

The Kenya Health Tracking Form is available online. Upon completion, a QR code will be generated and emailed to each traveler.

The Republic of Kenya offers three types of e-visas, each for different purposes.

All kinds of online visas in Kenya are one-time entry permits. You are only allowed to enter and leave Kenya once during the validity period. For re-entry, you need to apply for a new entry permit.

Electronic tourist visa-for tourists. This includes tourism and visiting family and friends. Valid for 90 days from the date of approval, you can stay in Kenya for up to 90 consecutive days.

Business eVisa: This is for all business travelers who want to work in Kenya. It is valid for 90 days from the date of approval and access can be continued for up to 90 days

Electronic transit visas allow travelers to travel to the Republic of Kenya on their way to their destination. This visa stays valid for 72 hours from the day you want to enter Kenya.

East Africa Visa: You can enter Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda for sightseeing purposes. In addition, it is valid for 90 days and allows multiple visits to 3 countries.
