eTA Canada (eVisa): Basic information
eTA Canada (Electronic Travel Authorization ) which is an online visa, executed to enable travelers from visa-exempt countries to enter Canada for tourism , business, or transit by air.
Canada has a multiple entry visa system that enables travelers to stay in the country for up to six months at a time. In order to accelerate the visa application process, Canadian Government has developed Electronic travel authorization in May 2016, which is electronically linked to the applicant’s passport and is acceptable for five years from the date of issuance.
The eTA application process is simple and comparatively less expensive than a traditional visa.
It’s a completely online process from filling out the form to the payment of fee (53 USD).
This Electronic Travel Authorization is a safe and highly recommended process due to its approval efficiency from several weeks (Traditional visa) to 72 hours. Most of the applications get approved with in few minutes.
Unlike other countries where you can have up to four e-visas, Canada uses only one for simplicity. With eTA, you can visit Canada for sightseeing and business purposes.
Therefore, if you are visiting a country as a tourist, visiting family or friends, attending meetings or doing business, you need an Electronic System for Travel Authorization in Canada.eTA is a multiple entry permit that is valid for 5 years. Travelers may visit Canada multiple times during the promotion period. The maximum stay is 6 months.
eTA is valid for 5 years from the date of approval. Travelers may enter Canada multiple times during this period. You can stay for up to 6 months per visit.
An important requirement is that your passport is valid for the duration of your visit. If your passport expires during this period, your eTA will also expire. You will need to make a new application before returning to Canada.
Even if you fly to Canada and travel to another location via Canada, you still need eTA. Please make sure your country is listed in the ” List of eligible countries ” above before filling out the online application form to obtain a Canadian eTA
In Canada, there is only one requirement for travelers eligible for eTA. You must travel with a valid passport and present it at the airport if requested by border authorities.
There is no need to print eTA . It will be automatically added to your passport.
Effective September 7, 2021, all foreign visitors must complete ArriveCAN before entering Canada.

Citizens of the above countries require an eTA when entering Canada by air.
Special note for Brazilian citizens: You are eligible for an eTA if you meet any of the following conditions:
– You are a permanent resident of the United States (Green Card holder)
– You had a Canadian visa 10 years prior to your current visit to Canada.
– Current US non-immigrant visa holder

The processing time can be up to 72 hours (3 working days). However, in many cases, the negotiation time is much shorter – about 15-30 minutes. With Evisa Master, the average processing time of eTA Canada is 16 hours. You will not be asked to provide a current copy of your passport so please ensure all information you provide us is correct. Once you have received an approved eTA, it will be electronically linked to your passport. You don’t have to print it out.
Remember: The Government of Canada is responsible for approving every eTA application. All immigration, travel and application decisions are made solely by the Government of Canada. Therefore, the processing time may be extended if the Government of Canada deems it necessary.
